Matteo Cairoli wins season opener in Barcelona

Matteo Cairoli won the opening race in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Circuit de Catalunya.

The support race to Formula 1 saw a lot of battles and some losers as well.

One of the title favourites, Christian Engelhart, was unlucky to be in a collision with Jeffrey Schmidt, that saw Engelhart ending up in the gravel and resulting in a safety car.

After the safety car we saw a big battle between Paul Rees, Mikkel O. Pedersen and many others. There was a lot of positions changed and a bit of rubbing paint, but everybody got through without further problems.

Runner-ups behind Cairoli was Sven Müller and Mathieu Jaminet, so it was a clean podium for Porsche Junior drivers, despite racing for 3 different teams.

The next round of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will be held in 14 days at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix.
