Aston Martin Racing mixing up the cards

Aston Martin Racing has chosen to mix up the cards for the rest of the FIA WEC season.

After the first 3 rounds of the championship, Darren Turner, Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen are currently P3 in the World Endurance Cup for GT Drivers. With the aim to win both drivers and teams title (they are already in the lead in the teams standings), the British team has chosen to pick out Darren Turner from the #95 car and put him in the #97 instead. There he will partner up with Richie Stanaway, while Jonny Adam and Fernando Rees are no longer a part of the FIA WEC driver line-up. Both still have contract with Aston Martin Racing, and while it’s announced that Adam will continue in British GT, the team is yet to confirm the rest of Rees’ jobs for the year.

The switch is a big surprise in the sportscar world, but on the other hand it’s understandable, that the team wants the best chances to win both titles.

Now we just have to cross fingers for Thiim, Sørensen, and Turner that they will be in the right car, that hopefully will win the title, and not stand on the sidelines and see their teammate(s) run away with it.

The next FIA WEC race will be held in 2 weeks at the Nürburgring.
