Audi Sport goes full attack on electric racing

Audi Sport goes full attack on electric racing.

From the 2017/18 season, Audi will participate with a full factory programme in the Formula E Championship.

Since the start of the Formula E Championship in late 2014, Audi has been a part of it in some degree, in form of Team ABT Schaeffler with Lucas Di Grassi and Daniel Abt piloting the 2 cars, and they will continue in that combination in the 2016/17 season. The 4 Audi rings will already be more visible on the car for the 2016/17 season.

Another Audi Sport works driver with experience in the Formula E Championship is Loic Duval, who is driving for Dragon Racing. He is already confirmed for the 2016/17 season, but it will be interesting to see if he will be entered for Audi Sport or he will be allowed to drive at another team – potentially with an Audi drive train at the back.

But with this announcement, there is a lot on interesting things showing up for the Formula E Championship from manufacturers across the world. Jaguar enters the championship this year, Renault and Mahindra has been there since the beginning, Mercedes has a factory driver in the lights of Maro Engel debutising in the 2016/17 season, and BMW is also lurking around in the background.

So, the future for the FIA Formula E Championship looks very bright for the next few seasons.
