Audi Sport driver Miguel Molina won the Saturday DTM race at Hockenheim.
From 2nd starting position, he was already leading going into turn one, and after that he showed his rear bumper to the rest of the field.
Antonio Felix da Costa started from Pole Position, but ended up finishing in 4th position, after the 43 minutes of racing.
Instead it was the title rivals Marco Wittmann in BMW and Edoardo Mortara in Audi finishing 2nd and 3rd.
It seemed to be a totally BMW dominated race for a long time with a lot of BMW drivers in top 10. But they used their DRS too early in the race, so when the Audi drivers started to deploy theirs later in the race, they had nothing to fight with – and Audi started overtaking BMW one by one.
Mercedes AMG had a terrible day at the office, with Paul Di Resta finishing only 10th and the 2nd best Mercedes AMG in the form of Maximilian Götz in P17 only!
The almost-debutant in form of Rene Rast, who was replacing Mattias Ekström this weekend due to the Swede’s Rallycross commitments, had a great race and finished in an impressive 6th position.
The season finale will be run tomorrow.
