Marco Wittmann is 2016 DTM Champion.
The German BMW driver had a controlled race, where he only needed to finish in top 5 to secure the title.
Title candidate Edoardo Mortara in Audi won the race, and hereby did everything that he could do. However the BMW driver had such an advantage in the points standings, that the win didn’t really matter.
Christian Vietoris saved the pride after yesterday’s disgrace and finished the race in P2, while marque colleague Paul Di Resta took 3rd place.
In the Championship standings we saw Wittmann as winner with Mortara in P2, and Jamie Green in Audi in 3rd.
This is the 2nd time that Marco Wittmann won the DTM title, after he secured his first title in 2014.
Now it’s winter break for the DTM series, until the official test drives will start again in spring 2017. The season will start on May 5th-7th at Hockenheim.
