Dieter Gass replaces Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich will step down as the Head of Motorsport at Audi Sport this New Year.

The 66 year old Austrian hands over, after 23 years, to Dieter Gass, who is also a well known face at Audi Sport.

Dr. Ullrich has an amazing record. Only two of the seasons during his time at Audi Sport, that they didn’t win any titles.

Dieter Gass started at Audi in November 1994, where he had a position as an engineer. He was a part of the sportscar programme around the Audi R8 car, which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans 5 times. He went away from Audi in spring 2001, and then worked for various Formula 1 teams, Toyota amongst others, until he came back to Audi Sport early 2012.

Since 2013 he has been the head of Audi Sport’s DTM programme and from January 1st 2017 he will be in charge of everything. That consists of Audi’s DTM programme, their upcoming FIA Formula E programme as well as their GT3 and TCR customer programmes.

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich will continue to work for Audi Sport through 2017 as an advisor before eventually retiring at the end of 2017.
