Team EKS has already announced their two cars, but today they came with a surprise addition as they added another car to the line-up.
Reinis Nitiss will be piloting the third Audi S1 EKS RX for the team, which is heavily supported by Audi SPort.
Nitiss won the European Championship in the S1600 category in 2013 and has since then driven in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. So far he’s primarily driven a Ford Fiesta ST for the Olsbergs MSE team, but half a season in 2016 he switched it to a Seat Ibiza for Münnich Motorsport before returning to the Ford.
In 2014 he was the youngest winner of a World RX round, when he took the victory in Norway. But if that wasn’t enough, he took four further podiums that year and finished third in the Championship.
In 2015 he managed a 7th position in the rankings with two podiums, before the 2016 season turned out to be quite turbulent at two different teams. That meant that he only managed to finish 16th. However, he missed two rounds in the 2016 Championship, which most likely would have made a difference had he participated there.
Team EKS will enter team boss Mattias Ekström and Toomas Heikkinen in the other two cars alongside Nitiss.
