BMW and ACO have made an agreement about delivering cars to the Le Mans track.
There will be up to 26 cars that will be used for both the motorcycle and the sportscar 24 Hours of Le Mans, and five of those cars will be permanent at the track all year round.
It isn’t mentioned in the press release if it’s also about the rest of the FIA WEC season, but that is the most expected scenario, since it’s unlikely that any other manufacturer will commit with so many cars for a race series, and then miss out on the biggest race of the year.
It will be a mix of saloons, estates, coupés, SUVs and limousines. The brand already supplies cars for the Formula E Championship, DTM and MotoGP among others.
BMW will return to Le Mans and the FIA WEC as a works team in the GTE-Pro category in 2018.
