Robert Kubica has ended his deal with Team ByKolles Racing. That was announced by the Polish driver on Facebook earlier today.
He tested the car for the first time in Bahrain in 2016 after the season finale and was announced as one of the drivers for the team in February, alongside Oliver James Webb.
Both drivers were at the test at Monza, where they were joined by Dominik Kraihamer. It was, however, only Webb doing six very slow laps in the middle of evening darkness on Saturday, before the rear-wing of the car parted company. Already Sunday morning they were packing up the truck and being ready to go back to the base in Southern Germany.
Already before Kubica’s announcement today, there were several rumours about who would be the drivers for the team this weekend, but there hasn’t been anything official announced by the team yet.
The FIA WEC season starts on Friday at Silverstone, where two Free Practices will be run. A third Free Practice will be run on Saturday and a Qualifying later in the day, before the 6 hours race will start at midday local time.
