Jaime Green won a very exciting race at Lausitzring Sunday afternoon.
The Audi driver started from third position, but he quickly made it past Tom Blomqvist and passed Poleman Robert Wickens on lap 31.
After that he could make it safely home to the chequered flag ahead of Audi teammate Mattias Ekström, while Robert Wickens made it home in third.
Ekström started from only P8, but an aggressive pitstop strategy, with a very early dive into the pits already after lap one, he made it past many competitors on the track, and through consistent laptimes, that the others couldn’t follow.
Tom Blomqvist had another bad day at the office, when he made a jump start and got a time penalty for that. Loic Duval didn’t have a happy ending to his weekend, when he finished last of all drivers – but at least he saw the flag at the end.
Maxime Martin was once again the best BMW, but in Sunday’s race it only was P8.
After the action this weekend, we have Lucas Auer leading the Championship, followed by Jamie Green, Gary Paffett and Mike Rockenfeller. So it’s a good mix at the top of the standings.
BMW are really in troubles, with Timo Glock as their best placed driver in 8th only. Championship leader Auer already has almost three times as many points as Glock! The same can be said in the Teams Championship, where they already are more than 100 points behind Audi and Mercedes!
The next DTM round will be held at Hungaroring on June 16th-18th.
