Ahead of this weekend’s Berlin ePrix , Renault e.dams announced that they will continue with their current driver duo Sébastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost until 2019.
Renault e.dams has won 11 races with their driver pairing. Furthermore, they have achieved two consecutive Teams’ titles and the Drivers’ crown with Sébastien Buemi in 2016. In the current standings, Renault e.dams lead the Teams’ championship by 75 points, thanks to obtaining five wins from six races. Buemi remains in a commanding position at the top of the Drivers’ standings while Nicolas Prost sits in third.
“Stability within a team is a vital element relating to performance and this extension demonstrates our continued approach”, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director Cyril Abiteboul pointed out. With co-owner Alain Prost adding: “It is very important for us to maintain stability in the team, given that we are already working on the development of the car for season 5.
The harmony between Sébastien and Nicolas, both on a personal and technical level, is also a very good gauge for success and we took this into account.” The Swiss driver is also “very pleased to continue the adventure. The team has done an amazing job and allowed me to have the best car on the grid. I could not ask for anything more. I look forward to continuing to fight hard and bringing home more victories to my team.”
The same goes for his French team-mate, who commented: “I am obviously delighted to continue with Renault e.dams for the next two years. Most people within the team have been here since the first test in Donington back in 2014. We all know each other well and will continue to work hard to finish this third season on a high. and prepare to do even better in seasons 4 and 5. The level does not stop rising and we want to maintain to be the best.”
