Toyota Gazoo Racing has taken the provisional Pole Position for t
he 24-hours race at Le Mans.
Car number 7 was the quickest car, in front of their sister car number 8, while the best Porsche was car #2 in third position. The laptimes were set early in the session, which was about 20 minutes shorter because of a repair of the armco after an accident in Road To Le Mans’ practice. But when they started, the laptimes were constantly improved at the front of the field.
In LMP2 it was TDS Racing #28 that drove the best laptime, in front of Vaillante Rebellion #31 and CEFC Manor TRS Racing #25. David Heinemeier Hansson’s car finished the session as the eighth fastest in the big LMP2 field of 25 cars. There were drama for SMP Racing #27, which had fire in the car. It was, however, unclear what exactly happened with the car, since it happened at a part of the track where it was dark.
Aston Martin Racing #95 with Nicki Thiim, Marco Sørensen, and Richie Stanaway had the provisional Pole Position in GTE Pro, followed by AF Corse Ferrari #71, and their sister car #51. Jan Magnussen and Corvette Racing #63 was ninth fastest in this session, with their sister car right behind them.
Aston Martin Racing #98 took Pole Position in GTE Am, in front of Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche #77, while TF Sport Aston Martin #90 came third. In 13th position, there was Christina Nielsen with her Scuderia Corsa Ferrari #65.
But we shall remember that there are still two qualifying sessions tomorrow, before the final starting grid is decided. A lot of things can happen in the remaining four hours.
