5 grid penalty for Wittmann

Marco Wittmann has received a 5-grid penalty following last weekend’s race at Norisring.

The 27 year-old German double DTM Champion received his third black and white warning flag of the season for dangerous driving. According to the Dtm Sporting Regulations, he will have to start five places further back, in the next race that he will participate in.

Wittmann had a collision with Mattias Ekström on the very final lap, which send the Swede way off line, and instead Edoardo Mortara could sneak past both, to grab the final podium spot.

Wittmann is currently only 10th in the Championship, and has only been on the podium once this season.

The next time we see the DTM field back on track will be in two weeks’ time at Moscow Raceway in Russia.
