The Championship leader out of Zandvoort race

The Championship leading Daniel Keilwitz is unfortunately out of the fourth race weekend for ADAC GT Masters.

The 27 year-old German was unlucky to break his leg at a crash during testing at Spa Francorchamps.

Thus he will miss out on Round 7 and 8, which will be run at Zandvoort in the Netherlands on July 22nd and 23rd.

Jules Gounon will have a new teammate – and it will be one with good local knowledge. Dutch driver Renger Van der Zande will jump into the blue and white Callaway Competition Corvette C7 GT3 #77, and even though Van der Zande hasn’t driven the car before, he has a great knowledge of driving many different race cars all over the world, so it probably won’t be a problem for him.

Gounon and Keilwitz have been teammates at Callaway Competition since the opening race of 2016, but now Jules Gounon will have to try and defend the lead in the Championship. The pair has one victory and two further podiums this season, plus another three victories and an extra podium position last year.

But it will interesting to see if Van der Zande can help Gounon to the top of the podium at the sandy, Dutch racetrack.

Daniel Keilwitz hopes to be back in the car, when the fifth race weekend will be run at the Nürburgring in August.

Racing24-7.net wish Daniel Keilwitz a speedy recovery.
