Signatech Alpine Matmut with several changes

The Signatech Alpine Matmut team is doing several changes for the second half of the FIA World Endurance Championship season.

At the Rounds in Mexico, USA, China and Bahrain we will only have #36 on the grid. Number 35 also skipped the opening race at Silverstone, and then went on to compete at Spa, Le Mans and Nürburgring.

Matt Rao leaves the team and car #36, and his seat will be taken by Andre Negrao.

There is no mention about the Japanese Round, so perhaps those seats are sold to three Japanese drivers. But that’s not mentioned in the team press release.

With that announcement, it’s clear that only Gustavo Menezes has the chance to (re)win the LMP2 drivers title for the team, since both his teammates, Negrao and Nicolas Lapierre haven’t done all the races in the car. Negrao has been in the #35 for the last 3 Rounds, while Lapierre did Spa and Le Mans for Toyota Gazoo Racing. The team and Menezes are currently third in the Championships, 59 points behind the leading Jackie Chan DC Racing #38 team.
