ELMS Champion gets WEC start

The European Le Mans Series LMP2 Champion Leo Roussel has received a big gift from G-Drive, after winning the Championship with the G-Drive Racing #22 team last weekend.

When the FIA World Endurance Championship race is run in Shanghai in one week’s time, #26 needed a driver, since Pierre Thiriet won’t do the race.

So it will be a big shuffle in the team, where Roman Rusinov will be the only driver with previous experience from the team this year. Nico Müller was already announced as a part of the team, one week ago.

The exact reason for Thiriet not driving, hasn’t been announced by the team, nor has it been made public, if he does the finale at Bahrain or not. Thiriet was the mandatory Silver driver part of the team, so the team had to replace him with another silver. Rusinov was, despite loud protests, upgraded to a gold driver following the 2016 season, and Müller is a platinum driver because of his works driver status at Audi Sport, being allowed to race for G-Drive Racing that coming weekend.

The 6 Hours of Shanghai will be run on Sunday 5 November.
