JDC Miller MotorSports will bring the iconic GAINSCO colours and the #99 back to the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2018.
The team in #99 will consist of Misha Goikhberg and Stephen Simpson throughout the season, while Chris Miller helps at the TPNAEC races.
The team has two ORECA 07 Gibson cars, so the “Banana Boat” #85 will return to the track again in 2018, as the yellow and black car was nicknamed in the 2017 season. That car will be driven by Simon Trummer, with some not yet announced teammates.
The last time that we saw the GAINSCO team on track was at the Daytona 24 Hours in 2014. The team started from Pole Position but had a very scary end to the race after only a few hours, when Memo Gidley hit the back of a Ferrari. That send Gidley into hospital for months, and he only returned to a racing car in 2017. Shortly thereafter the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Race team decided to suspend racing activities and only returned to the track in 2015, but so far not in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The IMSA season wills start on 5-7 January at Daytona, where the ROAR test will be run, before the Daytona 24 Hours race will be run on 27-28 January.
