Corvette Racing announced their full time 2018 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship drivers yesterday, but they didn’t mention any of the two drivers who will help the defending IMSA Champions during the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup races.
They did that today, by sending out a press release stating that Marcel Fässler and Mike Rockenfeller will once again help out the American team with yellow cars.
Rockenfeller will continue in car #3 together with Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia, while Fässler will once again paired up with Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner. It will be the third season for Rocky at Corvette, while it will be the fourth of Fässler, who also raced for them in the endurance rounds in 2009 in the USA. Neither Rocky nor Fässler has been full season drivers for Corvette Racing, but they have been pulled in as a third member in each of their car.
The two combinations of drivers have already been successful together, with Gavin/Milner and Fässler winning Daytona and Sebring in 2016, while Magnussen/Garcia and Rocky won Sebring 2017.
Just like in yesterday’s news, there is no mention of Le Mans 2018 – but only Fässler has driven that race for Corvette, since Rockenfeller has been on Audi duties at either Le Mans or in the DTM on the same weekend so far.
