We have to get used to a new name, when the Formula E Championship will be mentioned by its official name.
The series have made a contract with the Swiss company ABB, so the official name from now on will be ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
The parties haven’t released any details about the length of the contract, other than it’s a multi year deal, starting already from today.
The series will be the first FIA sanctioned series to get a title sponsor. Formula 1, WEC, WTCC, WRC and the ETRC to just name a few, have never had any title sponsor, and is only known for the series name.
ABB are specialists in electrical products like robots, automation and power grids. The company have already celebrated their 125th anniversary, and have more than 136.000 workers in over 100 countries.
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship is on the track again this coming weekend, when Round 3 of the 2017/18 Championship will be run in Marrakesh, Morocco on Saturday, while the Rookie test will be run on Sunday.
