DragonSpeed also ready with their ELMS drivers

DragonSpeed announced their FIA World Endurance Championship drivers yesterday, and today they send out a release about their three drivers for the European Le Mans Series.

And we actually have two repeated names on that list.

Henrik Hedman and Ben Hanley will be on double duty in 2018, both running in the LMP1 car in the FIA WEC and the LMP2 car for the European Le Mans Series.

They will be joined by their 2017 teammate Nico Lapierre, to continue their good collaboration in the upcoming season. That indicates that Lapierre has other plans in the FIA WEC. He has been driving for the Signatech Alpine Matmut team, but they haven’t announced their 2018 plans yet.

The DragonSpeed team ended 8th in the final ELMS LMP2 2017 standings, with a season highlight in Monza, finishing second. But they had some very expensive low or no-points finishes, and they have to try and improve that, if they want to get up further in the Championship. If they only can get a season with constant double-digit points finishes, they can easily advance several positions in the close midfield.

All their competitors in the European Le Mans Series will be announced this Thursday, before the season starts with a Prologue at Paul Ricard on 9-10 April, with the first race of the season to be run on the same location on 15 April.
