Zakspeed hires Stolz and Asch

Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing will celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, so they are aiming at the biggest trophy of them all in the ADAC GT Masters.

The team has hired Sebastian Asch and kept Luca Stolz for one of their Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars , to achieve this goal.

Asch was part of the title winning crew in the team in 2015, but he went to BMW Mücke Motorsport in their Mercedes for the 2017 season. Now he returns to the team, who has its base in Niederzissen, not far from the Nürburgring. The Asch name is very well known at Zakspeed, already before Sebastian started in the team. His dad, Roland Asch, drove for the team through many seasons, and they had a lot of success together as well.

Stolz had his debut with the team in 2017 and quickly got into a good rhythm. Unfortunately there was a lot of technical issues and bad luck for him and teammate Luca Ludwig throughout the 2017 season, so the finished 11th only in the overall standings. Stolz was able to grab third position in the Junior Championship, for drivers under 25 years.

The team will soon announce the drivers in the second car. Nikolaj Rogivue has already announced, that he will be racing for Aust Motorsport this year, while Nicolai Sylvest hasn’t announced his plans just yet.

The ADAC GT Masters season will start in Oschersleben on 13-15 April.
