Christina Nielsen will once again be on the grid, when the green drops for the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 16 June 2018.
The double IMSA GTD Champion will have her third start in the prestigious race, but it will be her first start in a Porsche.
She will be racing for the Italian Ebimotors team, which won the Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2017, but has advanced to the European Le Mans Series for this season.
Fabio Babini will team up with Nielsen, while the third driver isn’t ready to be announced just yet. Babini is a former winner of the race back in 2001, and was part of secured the Michelin Le Mans Cup last year too. The team raced a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 to the title.
Now they have got their hands on a Porsche 911 RSR model year 2017, which is the latest model allowed in the GTE Am category.
Ebimotors has been racing in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia for sevaral seasons, so they know the Porsche models very well.
Christina Nielsen runs full season in the IMSA series for Wright Motorsports in a Porsche 911 GT3 R, so the GTE version will be faster experience for her. But that was the case as well in her two previous starts, where it was a Ferrari 458 / F488 GT3 upgrade to 458 / F488 GTE. But she mastered that change very well, and followed her now former teammate Alessandro Balzan very well on the times – who by the way has a history with Ebimotors, when he raced Porsche cars.
Nielsen will face the special situation, that she will race her American teammate, Patrick Long, who enters in the Proton Competition Porsche #99 in the GTE Am.
