GRX TANECO with two cars

The FIA World Rallycross Championship will have a new two-car team, when the season starts in one month time in Barcelona.

The GRX TANECO team will enter two Hyundai i20 cars, with a history in the World Rally Championship

The man behind the GRX team is Markus Grönholm, where his son Niclas was the only driver throughout the 2017 season. They ran a single Ford Fiesta, but now they expands with the double FIA European Rallycross Champion, Timur Timerzyanov.

The team boss Markus underlines that the team is a privateer, but they of course will receive a few tips and tricks from Hyundai about the cars. But it’s nowhere near a works entry.

Niclas Grönholm starts his third full season in the World RX, where he started at the Olsbergs MSE team in a Ford Fiesta, and as previously mentioned, moved on with the same car in 2017.

Timur Timerzyanov will enter his fifth season, but he has driven a mix of cars. Through the first four seasons, he has run for 4 different teams, and after driving a Peugeot 208 and several versions of the Ford Fiesta model, he will now race the Hyundai car. He has claimed two podiums so far in the World RX, but his first win is yet to come.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship starts on 14 April in Barcelona, where 14 cars have been confirmed so far.
