AutoArena Motorsport will enter the ADAC GT Masters this season.
The team will compete with a Mercedes-AMG GT3, receiving support from HTP Motorsport, who races two cars themselves.
Clemens Schmid and Patrick Assenheimer will be the two drivers, racing with car #84.
Clemens Schmid has raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland through many season. But he has had a taste of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, before he participated in the ADAC GT Masters in 2015 for Bentley Team HTP. He raced in the Blancpain GT in 2016 and 2017 for HTP Motorsport and I.S.R. racing respectively, where the latter was in an Audi R8 LMS GT3. This year he will compete against I.S.R. since they will enter the ADAC GT Masters, as previously mentioned here on the site.
His teammate Patrick Assenheimer has three podium finishes next to his name so far in the German GT3 series. He started racing ADAC GT Masters in 2014, doing three seasons in a Corvette C6.R GT3 for Callaway Competition, before moving to HTP Motorsport in 2017, racing their Mercedes. They didn’t have any room for him this year, but does that really matter when he can race on in the same car, with support from HTP Motorsport.
The team aims at finishing in the Top-5 in the Championship, since they are very well aware of the tough competition in the 37 car field. Both mechanics and the drivers have to be at their absolute best. But they still hope for some big results throughout the season.
AutoArena Motorsport has competed in the VLN series so far, where they raced a Mercedes C-Class in the past.
AutoArena Motorsport and the 36 other cars will have their first race weekend on 14-15 April at Oschersleben, near Magdeburg.
