Davidson new DragonSpeed driver post Le Mans

Anthony Davidson has been hired by the DragonSpeed team, but not until this year’s Le Mans has been run.

38 year-old Davidson is still a test- and reserve driver at Toyota Gazoo Racing, and they will be 100% focused about winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so they won’t risk having lent him out to a different team, in case one of their regular 6 drivers suddenly can’t participate in the prestigious race.

Davidson had to leave his Toyota Gazoo Racing #8 seat for Fernando Alonso ahead of this season.

The DragonSpeed team is running both an LMP1 and an LMP2 car this year in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and it’s going to be the LMP2 car, that he races in.

The DragonSpeed ORECA 07 Gibson #31 will consist of Roberto Gonzalez, Pastor Maldonado and Nathaniel Berthon up to and including Le Mans. Then Berthon will step out of the car, and let Davidson run for the rest of the season.

Both DragonSpeed and Anthony Davidson will be present at next weeks Prologue test at Paul Ricard, but it’s not clear if Davidson will get a quick run in the LMP2 car, or if he will focus solely on running with Toyota Gazoo Racing, alongside with their other 4 drivers present at the test.
