Stephane Sarrazin will return to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, when the series runs in Berlin next weekend.
The plan is for the 42 year-old racing driver to run in the last four races this season, where he will replace Tom Blomqvist at MS&AD Andretti.
The official explanation from the team is that Blomqvist will focus on the BMW GTE programme, so he will hand the car over to Sarrazin.
Sarrazin already has a lot of experience in Formula E. He has participated in 33 races over the first three seasons, and has been on the podium three times. It was a bit of surprise that he didn’t get a car to race in the current Season Four, but he will return now.
On top of all his Formula E experience, Stephane Sarrazin has raced in things like Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship. Currently he is contracted to SMP Racing in their FIA World Endurance Championship programme, where he is running their new BR1 Engineering LMP1 car.
The Andretti team has worked together with BMW for the last few years, with BMW planing to enter under their own name in the upcoming season.
Antonio Felix da Costa will continue to race the other MS&AD Andretti ATEC-03 car, parallel with his GTE programme for BMW.
The next round of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will be run in Berlin in just over one week time, where the former Tempelhof Airport will be turned into a race track for a few days.
