Five hours after the chequered flag fell at the Hungaroring, at the 6th round of this year’s DTM Championship, three documents were released from the stewards.
Car number 7, 22 and 48 were disqualified from the race due to dangerous driving in the pit, where the drivers didn’t drive with appropriate speed.
The numbers belong to Bruno Spengler, Lucas Auer and Edoardo Mortara, and those were the three involved in hitting the persons in the pitlane, during the sudden rainfall.
Spengler and Mortara will have a 10- grid penalty as well for the starting grid at the next round at the Norisring. The Stewards chose to give them that penalty, since Auer had pitted one lap earlier, and the teams already had seen what happened, and should have informed Spengler and Mortara, that the concrete was extremely slippery. Furthermore there were yellow flags shown in the pit following the Auer accident, which should had alerted the two drivers even further.
The official release regarding the injured officials were that a Hungarian official received serious leg injuries, and a further two fire fighters was treated at the track for small injuries. Three Mercedes mechanics also received minor injures.
We wish all the affected people a speedy recovery.
