AFS/PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports will run with a new third driver on the squad for the 6 hours race at Watkins Glen this weekend.
Will Owen will share the car with Sebastian Saavedra and Gustavo Yacaman.
Owen will be competing against his regular European Le Mans Series team, United Autosports, who also enters one car in the 6 hours race.
He has been driving for the team back in 2016 and 2017 on selected outings, and now he has got the phone call once again.
Roberto Gonzalez was the third driver on the team during the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours, but there are no information on why he isn’t part of the team this time around. Team boss Gary Peterson only comments that it’s a shame that Gonzalez isn’t a part of the team this time.
The team is currently 11th in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship standings for Prototypes, but has really good chances of moving forward, should they have a good race at Watkins Glen.
The race will start 15.45 CET this Sunday 1 July.
