Harding Racing will go all-in, when the Verizon IndyCar Series will have their 2018 season finale Sonoma Raceway next weekend.
They will enter not one but two rookies in the shape of the Indy Lights Champion Patricio O’Ward and his biggest competitor for the title, Colton Herta.
Harding Racing are currently in their first full season in the top category of American single seater racing, and has run with Gabby Chaves throughout most of the season, while Conor Daly raced three time during the middle of the season.
O’Ward has experience from WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, where he won the 2017 LM PC Championship together with James French. The young Mexican driver has also raced in IMSA this year, where he drove for the Performance Tech Motorsports outfit at the Daytona 24 Hours, helping the team finish 8th overall.
Colton Herta is the son of former Indycar and Sportscar racer Bryan Herta. He has time and time again proved his speed, and is therefore under supervision from BMW Team RLL, where he tested the car earlier this season. It’s expected for him to be in the car at the Petit Le Mans race in October this year.
Harding Racing continues to say that Gabby Chaves is still part of their 2019 plans, even though he hasn’t raced all the rounds in 2018, and won’t be doing the final race in California either.
Patricio O’Ward will race with car #8 while Colton Herta will run with the regular number of the team, #88.
