Virgin Racing will partner up with Audi Sport in the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E Championship 2018/19 season, having signed a multiyear deal.
The team have used a DS drive train so far, but it was announced earlier in the year, that DS will switch to the Championship winning Techeetah outfit, leaving Virgin without a drive line.
The car will be named Audi e-tron FE05, and will be one of the brand new Gen-2 cars, which is remarkable different that it’s predecessor, plus it can do the whole race, without swapping the car midway through the race.
The design plus the driver line-up will be announced on 5 October, but it’s expected for Sam Bird to stay with the team, whereas there are no news on regarding Alex Lynn, who also has an Aston Martin factory programme to focus on.
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship season 2018/19 starts on 15 December, on the streets of Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
