Rosenqvist new CGR driver

Felix Rosenqvist has signed with Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2019 IndyCar Series.

The 26 year-old Swede will be piloting the NTT DATA Honda #10, replacing Ed Jones, who had a disappointing 2018 campaign for the team.

Rosenqvist already has a lot of experience, despite his young age. With a background in Formula Renault 2.0 with a total of three titles in those cars, he went on to do Formula 3, where he won both the FIA European Formula 3 Championship plus Masters of Formula 3, and the Macau Grand Prix several times.

He then got picked up by Mercedes, who put him in DTM plus the Blancpain GT series in 2016.

Mahindra saw his talent too, making him race in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship for the last two seasons, where the Swede has won several races.

Other than that, he has been driving in Japan in both Super Formula plus Super GT.

Oh yeah – and then he did a partial 2016 Indy Lights season in the US, where he won 3 out of the 10 races, that he entered.

Rosenqvist has already tested for CGR two times in the past, back in 2016 and 2017, but the team was a bit too slow for the 2018, where he already had signed a different contract.

His 2019 contract also means a goodbye to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, since to two series have a lot of date clashes, so we not just are talking about a single clash, that could be handled in some way or another.

Felix Rosenqvist will team up with the newly crowned 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series Champion Scott Dixon at Chip Ganassi Racing.

The 2019 IndyCar Series starts on 10 March on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
