The capital of Chile, Santiago, has grabbed the available January slot on the ABB FIA Formula E Championship schedule for the 2018/19 season.
When the schedule was announced back in June, there was a single TBA spot in January. When you looked the the nearby events on the calendar, it was quite clear that it would be somewhere in South America. The guessing pointed towards Punta del Este in Uruguay, which was part of the 2017/18 schedule, but instead it went to another 2017/18 host nation, Chile.
It won’t, however, be the same layout as last season, but a different running around in Parque O’Higgins, in the central part of the town.
The track is located in a park, just like we saw in London with Battersea Park, and will have the big multi arena Movistar Arena as the central point of the track.
The Santiago E-Prix will be run on 26 January 2019.
