Alexander Albon has chosen to change direction, so he won’t be doing ABB FIA Formula E Championship after all.
The 22 year-old British/Thai racing driver appeared to be in a bit of a blind alley in the single seater route. So he chose to sign a contract with e.dams for the upcoming Formula E season.
Red Bull started to show interest for him shortly after, plus he had been a part of their junior programme some years ago. That collaboration however was set on pause – until Scuderia Toro Rosso wants him in the car for 2019.
There has been negotiations going on for quite some time between the energy drinks company and e.dams/NISMO.
Albon is really interesting for Red Bull, since 51% of the shares are owned by Thai share holders, even though Austrian Dieter Mateschitz often is mentioned as the man behind Red Bull.
NISMO will announce their second driver for their ABB FIA Formula E Championship 2018/19 effort on 30 November in Tokyo.
