AIM Vasser Sullivan has the first three drivers for the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2019 season ready.
Townsend Bell and Frankie Montecalvo will share one Lexus RC F GT3 car, while Jack Hawksworth will be driving in the other car.
Bell won the GTD Championship, but is also a winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Am category in 2016. He has a past in Indycar too, where he was a regular Indy 500 starter.
Montecalvo has raced numerous races in both USA but also in Europe. He has participated in IMSA races, but also ELMS and FIA WEC plus Le Mans.
The two were teammates throughout the 2018 TPNAEC rounds in the IMSA series, when they raced a Ferrari 488 GT3 car for the Scuderia Corsa team.
Townsend Bell already knows team owner Jimmy Vasser from the Indycar days, where Bell raced for Vasser’s KV Racing both 2009 and 2014.
Hawksworth knows the Lexus car from inside out, since he has raced it for two seasons at 3GT Racing, who has handed over the two chassis’ to AIM Vasser Sullivan. He was teammate with David Heinemeier Hansson throughout the 2018 season, and grabbed several Pole Positions, but missed out on any visits to the podium. They were taken by their teammates instead, who also twice stood on the top step.
The team has just over one month time to announce the rests of the drivers for the two cars, since The ROAR Before The Rolex 24 test will be run at Daytona International Speedway in the start of January.
