PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports are ready for a full 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign.
The team is the first to confirm a full season LMP2 effort, using an ORECA 07 Gibson car.
It also marks the official end to the AFS collaboration after just one season.
PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports will put Matt McMurry and Gabriel Aubry in the car, and therefore enters something close to the strongest Silver/Silver ranked driver line-up. Both drivers can be as fast as Gold drivers, so it’s a bit of a scoop for the team.
Gabriel Aubry has been racing for the Jackie Chan DC Racing team in both the Asian Le Mans Series plus FIA World Endurance Championship, but also for the IDEC Sport team in the European Le Mans Series. All that while doing a full season GP3 programme for Arden International.
Matt McMurry is a son of Chris McMurry, but has proved his own speed, as well as being the youngest starter at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he entered as a mere 16 year-old in 2014, racing for the Caterham Racing LMP2 team. He has been racing in the Asian Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series plus various starts in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and its predecessor.
The extra driver(s) for the Michelin Endurance Cup races will be announced in the near future.
