United Autosports enters FIA WEC

United Autosports has entered the FIA World Endurance Championship 2019/20.

The Anglo-American team has pretty much been represented in every sportscar series in the world either past or present, in one way or another.

You need to be approved by the ACO and FIA to be able to compete in the FIA WEC, but with a background in the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans, they have really good cards on their hands. The team has been frontrunner in all series, and been on the podium in all three. The CEO of the FIA WEC, Gerard Neveu has already welcomed them to the series, so they are already certain to get an entry.

Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuerquerque will share the blue, red and white Ligier JSP217. The pair raced together in the European Le Mans Series throughout the 2018 season, closing the season by winning the final two races of the year.

Hanson currently leads the Asian Le Mans Series, where he shares the car with Paul Di Resta. The team also leads the LMP2 Am Trophy standings, and sits second in the LMP3 category. One Le Mans ticket will be handed out to each of the class winners in the Asian Le Mans Series, so the team has plenty to fight for.

United Autosports are the distributor of Ligier racing cars in Great Britain – so not only are they a rolling bill board for the sponsors, but it’s also a good branding for the car manufacturer.

The FIA WEC 2019/20 starts on the final Friday in August at their home circuit, Silverstone.
