First Aston Martin drivers announced

R-Motorsport has announced the first two Aston Marting driver for the 2019 DTM season.

The Swiss team has been allowed to call the DTM cars, which are developed by HWA, for Aston Martin. The programme is purely private, and has nothing to do with the manufacturer itself.

The team has opted to go for experience and youth.

The 2010 DTM Champion Paul Di Resta was announced this morning, while the talented Jake Dennis was announced later in the day.

HWA knows Di Resta very well, since he has been driving for Mercedes throughout all his 9 DTM seasons.. HWA was the ones building DTM cars for Mercedes. With 11 race wins, and 37 podium positions, the R-Motorsport team has got a top driver in Di Resta, who surely will be a good support for Jake Dennis.

Dennis is a well known face by R-Motorsport, where he did series like Blancpain for the team. Dennis tested Formula 1 for Red Bull Racing too, while his first DTM test came at the Young Driver Test in December 2018. He knows a great part of the DTM circuits, since he raced the FIA Formula 3 European Championship earlier in his career, which was support series for the DTM.

R-Motorsport has previously said that they want to compete with up to 4 cars in the series – but so far just with these two cars, who will run at the DTM season start on 4-5 May 2019 at the Hockenheimring.
