The Scuderia James Glickenhaus will return to the Nürburgring in 2019 with the SCG003C for a final appearance this season – to race in VLN 1 in March, plus the Nürburgring 24 Hours Qualification race in May, and the Nürburgring 24 Hours main race in June. The team had shared this intention already back in 2018, yet they now confirmed the plan with more details. And they have also some more of their exciting future plans.
The car, which in former years had appeared in yellow-, black/carbon-, and white liveries, likely will show up in a red livery this year. That is how it had been teasered by the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus in Social Media. Technically, the biggest change for the car – which will again run in SPX class – is the move from Dunlop to Michelin tires. The team is hoping for a better wet tires performance from the Michelin tires. The lack of grip in wet conditions with the Dunlop tires, was considered one of the reasons for the drop in performance of the SCG003C during the Nürburgring 24h race in 2018.
The current plan is that the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will deploy only one car this year, with a familiar drivers line up – Franck Mailleux, Andreas Simonsen, Thomas Mutsch und Felipe Fernandez Laser, who all had been driving the SCG003C in former years on the Ring.
In a Facebook posting, James Glickenhaus himself clarified some of the plans: “We will be there with one car and Franck, Andreas, Thomas and Felipe. This year we will be on Michelin. We will be testing this weekend. We will again sponsor the Glickenhaus Cup for the best NS time during the Top 30 Shootout. In 2020 we will race with our new SCG 004 GT3. We will have a 004GT3 and 004GT4 presentation at the 6HR QR and be offering customers cars in 2020 priced at $500,000 for an 004GT3 and $250,000 for an 004 GT4 with low running and spare costs. As always please say hello. We Race for Sport and our Fans. Best Jim”.
So, the fans of Glickenhaus can expect a lot more exciting things to come. Glickenhaus will present the new 004GT3 and 004GT4 cars at the N24h Qualification race in May. And Glickenhaus will come back again the following year with the new SCG 004C GT3, to take on the 2020 Nürburgring 24h campaign.
