Trouble-free FP3

It was an non dramatic FP3 in FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium.

The 60-minute long practice went without a single yellow flag and all the teams drove between 18 to 27 laps.

Toyota Gazoo Racing #7 was the fastest car, ahead of the sister car #8, but SMP Racing continued the good speed from yesterday with #17 in P3 and #11 right behind. It was Kamui Kobayashi who set the quickest time for #7, which was even half a second faster than the laptime that Toyota set on the same track last year.

ByKolles Racing Team #4 is the only one that didn’t make much progress. They were more than eleven seconds slower than Toyota #7 – and even slower than the entire LMP2 field. We really hope they’ll soon find more speed in the car, after changing their engine supplier because the previous one, according to the team, couldn’t deliver a competitive engine.

G-Drive Racing #26 was fastest in LMP2, ahead of Jackie Chan DC Racing #37 and #38. It was Jean-Eric Vergne who qualified #26, while Will Stevens set the P2 time.

Gianmaria Bruni in Porsche #91 was the fastest GTE Pro car, in front of Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK #67 and Porsche #92 Kevin Estre.

There was a pure Porsche dominance in GTE Am, where Dempsey-Proton Racing #88 with Matteo Cairoli and #77 were first and second, while Team Project 1 #56 was third. After that came the two Aston Martin cars from TF Sport #90 and AMR #98 respectively, followed by a group of Ferraris.

The qualifying will be run later today at 15.00 CET, where the LMP cars will have 25 minutes for themselves, as will the GTE cars.

Right now the weather looks like it will remain dry, but you know how fast Spa Francorchamps can change from bone dry to monsoon-like weather.
