Roussel also sidelined

After Mark Patterson was judged out of this weekend’s race at Monza, and actually the 24 Hours of Le Mans too, another injury has been added to a European Le Mans Series team.

Frenchman Leo Roussel has a crash in the second free practice, on his 5th lap in the Inter Europol Competition #34 LMP2 car.

Something went wrong during the braking for Parabolica, so the car went straight on a high speed, hit the barrier and apparently went on top of the barrier. Roussel was able to leave the car himself, and went for a medical check at the local hospital.

The doctors didn’t think that he should drive any more this weekend, so Jakub Smiechowski and Dani Clos will have to do the 4-hour race alone, which isn’t a problem anyway.

The team has only released a “Get well soon”, so he will hopefully be fit for the Le Mans test day in 3 weeks’ time. He was only just announced this Thursday, as teaming up with Smiechowski and Nigel Moore for the Le Mans race, so let’s hope that there will be no changes to that.

Racing24-7.net wants to wish Leo Roussel a speedy recovery too, and hope to see him back behind the wheel as soon as possible.
