Corvette Racing has had to call up a reserve for this weekends IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the track which was formerly known as Mosport.
During the race at Watkins Glen last weekend, Tommy Milner was involved in a crash on Lap 1. Milner injured his left hand in the accident, which rules him out of the race this weekend.
So the team have called up their third driver from Le Mans, Marcel Fässler, which will pair up with Oliver Gavin in #4.
This will be the fourth race for Fässler in the American car this year, following Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans.
Fässler is a natural choice in the car, since he already knows Gavin, plus all the other drivers with previous knowledge of the C7.R race car already are busy. The third driver in the #63 car at Le Mans, Mike Rockenfeller will be racing in DTM for Audi Sport, and brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor will be racing IMSA themselves for Acura Team Penske and Konica Minolta Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac respectively.
It’s still unclear if Tommy Milner will be fit for the following round at Lime Rock Park in just 14 days time. He will be evaluated by doctors ahead of that race.
