Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler continue with no changes to their driver line-up, when Season 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship starts later this year.
The German team are the first to confirm their drivers for the upcoming season, ahead of the Season 5 finale, which is run this weekend in New York.
They are the only team to retain the drivers throughout all 56 Formula E races run so far.
Both drivers have won for the team, and Lucas Di Grassi currently sits second in the Championship, 32 from the lead. So he HAS to finish ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne in the Saturday, or the 2016/17 Champion won’t have any chance of finishing ahead of 2017/18 Champion Vergne.
Daniel Abt currently sits 8th in the drivers championship, but just needs to gain 11 points to move up to third. So it can go both ways for the German.
Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler is second in the Teams Championship heading into New York, but 43 points behind the leading Techeetah team, so the 2017/18 Team champion is also under pressure in relation to those standings.
But we have seen radical changes happening in motorsport – and especially Formula E – so anything is possible.
