The qualifying for the fourth round of Michelin Le Mans Cup 2019 was run this morning at Circuit de Catalunya in Spain, in two fifteen minutes sessions without any drama.
The GT3 cars were first on the track for their fifteen-minute session.
Krypton Motorsport Mercedes #35 with Marco Zanuttini and Stefano Pezzucchi took Pole Position, ahead of Kessel Racing Ferrari #8 with Sergio Pianezzola and Giacomo Piccini, while championship leader Luzich Racing Ferrari #71 with Mikkel Mac and Fabien Lavergne was third fastest GT3 car.
There was, however, some drama amongst the LMP3 cars, but not in the qualifying itself. The championship leader Lanan Racing #25 with Duncan Tappy and Michael Benham had a big accident in yesterday’s practice from a collision with Cool Racing #96. The car was so damaged that they didn’t manage to participate in the qualifying Saturday morning, and it’s still unclear if they can get the car ready for the race.
Graff #39 with Adrien Chila and Nicolas Schatz took Pole Position with just 0,054 second in front of DKR Engineering #3 with Francois Kirmann and Laurents Hörr, with Nielsen Racing #2 with Tony Wells and Colin Noble in third.
Christian Stubbe Olsen would start again for RLR MSport #14, and his teammate James Dayson qualified the car in P13 amongst the LMP3 cars, while KEO Racing #43 with Johan Jokinen and Alain Costa, where the latter set the qualifying time, would start the race from P17.
The race starts at one o’clock and can be streamed live via this YouTube link from 12.40.
