Pfaff Motorsports will bring one of the most rapid line-ups in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2020.
The Canadian team, which made its debut in the big IMSA series in 2019, were already challenging the big teams in 2019, and they really want better than in 2020.
The team will run a Porsche 911 GT3 R, with the very best from the Porsche world – who isn’t already racing in GTLM or GTE Pro.
Zacharie Robichon will once again be the central figure behind the wheel. He finished 3rd in the GTD Championship in 2019, with two wins next to his name. He shared the car with Norwegian Dennis Olsen at Lime Rock Park, and they will be back together for the full 2020 season.
They will be joined by Lars Ken at the 4 endurance rounds, counting towards the Michelin Endurance Cup. The German had the same role in 2019, which resulted in a podium finish at the season finale at Road Atlanta.
Patrick Pilet will add even more strength to team at the Daytona 24 Hours. The French driver has most recently raced for Porsche in the GTLM category, but is replaced by Frederic Makowiecki, and will now race in this GTD car.
Unless the BOP makes the Porsche totally uncompetitive, this #9 car is really one to look out for. The average speed of these four drivers will be very very high, if not the theoretical fastest amongst the driver line-ups already announced.
We will know a lot more in six weeks’ time, when the 24 hours race will run on 25-26 January 2020.
