DragonSpeed has announced their drivers for the European Le Mans Series 2020 season.
The American team has managed to grab one of the 2019 ELMS championships for the driver line-up.
Memo Rojas returns to DragonSpeed, after winning the LMP2 title for IDEC Sport #28 in the 2019 season. The Mexican has also won the ELMS title with DragonSpeed in 2017. He did race under the G-Drive Racing banner, in an orange car – but it was DragonSpeed running the car.
Ryan Cullen switches from United Autosports to DragonSpeed. The Brit made his debut in ELMS in LMP2 in 2019, where he raced with Alex Brundle and Will Owen. The team was on the podium at Monza, but was often the unlucky car of the two UA cars. There was no room left for him during the 2020 musical chairs at his previous team, but since Cullen is still Silver ranked, it’s quite a good asset – especially since he can pedal the car quite fast too.
Last but not least, Ben Hanley has been confirmed in the car. That was already announced a while back, and he will be quite a busy boy. Other than ELMS, he will race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship i LMP2 for the team, plus at least one NTT IndyCar Series race in 2020 for DragonSpeed as well. Oh, and by the way, he does race for Team LNT Ginetta in the FIA World Endurance Championship. So there quite a lot of programmes to race in for the Brit.
The team has also presented a graphic for this year’s car, which appears to be the black version of the car, with the starts. They have swapped a bit between the all white and the all black car with stars.
The European Le Mans Series 2020 will host the first race on 5 April at Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.
