Toronto postpones 2020 race

Toronto has postponed their planned NTT IndyCar Series race for 2020.

The reason is of course the ongoing COVID-19 situation, and since it’s a street race, the track build needs to be started very early.

The people in charge don’t see that safe enough for health reasons – at least not on the original July date.

The organizers do however state that they are working on an alternative date for 2020.

But there are not may gaps left in the revised schedule that Indycar released early April. The only gaps of more than one weekend off all the way from the start of June to end of October, is the end of July month and mid-October. End of July don’t work either, when mid-July doesn’t in the first place. The gap in October would result in the teams going from Indianapolis, to Toronto – and then all the way to Florida for St. Petersburg, since that is locked in as the final race no matter what.

The NTT IndyCar Series still expects to start the season on 6 June at Texas Motor Speedway.
