Chaves replaces Nasr this weekend

Felipe Nasr was meant to be back behind the wheel this weekend, but that has been put on hold.

The Brazilian should have joined his countryman Pipo Derani as a full-season driver in the Whelen Engineering Cadillac #31 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, but Nasr has now got a positive COVID-19 test.

Nasr has stayed in Miami in the last month, since he travelled in from Brazil. He didn’t have any kind of symptoms, but when on his way to Daytona yesterday, to meet up with the team ahead of the weekend. But he felt something was wrong, so he went to get a test, that turned out positive. Fortunately, he didn’t meet up with the team, nor any other persons related to the race this weekend. So now he goes into quarantine in Miami for the next days. Both Nasr and the team hopes to be ready for Sebring in 14 days time, but that is all down to his recovery until them.
