FIA WEC 2021 provisional schedule revealed

The FIA World Endurance Championship has announced their provisional schedule for the 2021 season. The Season 8 schedule has been trimmed down to a 6-race schedule for FIA WEC, due to the COVID-19 situation, and the economic challenges for companies around the world. More details about the Peugeot Le Mans programme

Peugeot Sport has released more details about the upcoming Le Mans programme. They have made a deal with Total, where they will develop a Le Mans Hypercar, with a hybrid system. So this will not be an LMDh programme, since that category doesn’t have as much technical freedom as LMH. The cars will be four-wheel driver, with the hybrid part of 200 kW on the front wheels, while the regular internal combustion engine of about 300 kW, to power the rear wheel. 30 minutes intensive Hyperpole

The first Hyperpole of the 24 Hours of Le Mans history was run this Friday morning, on a dry a sunny Circuit de la Sarthe. 23 cars were fighting for the 6 first positions in each category. The fourth free practice for this year’s Le Mans was run Friday morning, and was extremely messy, when you consider that the teams already had 10 hours of practice yesterday, and this is the final practice for all the cars, prior to the 15 minutes Warm Up Saturday morning. Patrick Pilet has gotten an unexpected call up in the 11th hour. The French driver has been called up as replacement Dwight Merriman, who has been declared unfit to race, following his FP2 accident onboard the IDEC Sport #17 yesterday. The third free practice for this year’s Le Mans race, which was the only night session this year, got to an abrupt ending of the originally 4 hours of driving.
