Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler and Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team will remain unchanged, in the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E Championship Season 7.
The two teams are so satisfied with their drivers, that ended the 2019/20 season, that their contracts have been extended.
Audi closed the season off with Lucas Di Grassi and Rene Rast in the cars, following the sacking of Daniel Abt halfway through the season. Di Grassi has competed in Formula E since the very start, only missing a few racing due to this FIA WEC commitment for Audi. Rast is very close at securing his third DTM championship, ahead of Audi leaving the series at the end of the year. He is their hot name, so it’s only natural that they will put him in their prime focus programme.
Mercedes will retain Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries as the two drivers. They were hired by the team ahead of the 2019/20 season, where Mercedes entered the series as a works team. Vandoorne finished the season off with a victory in Berlin, and de Vries in second, claiming third position in the Teams Championship.
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship Season 7 is scheduled to start on 16 January 2021 in Santiago, Chile.
