Era Motorsport is an ever-expanding team.
They are active in historic racing in the US, and stepped onto the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship scene in January 2020, and racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in September 2020, in collaboration with IDEC Sport.
They have just announced an Asian Le Mans Series programme for 2021.
The team will work together with JOTA, who will run the programme.
Kyle Tilley and Dwight Merriman, the two men being Era Motorsport, will share the car entered in the series.
The car will be an ORECA 07 Gibson, just like their own car in the IMSA series. That will give the two drivers plenty of running behind the steering wheel of an LMP2 car.
The JOTA team is one of the most successful teams in LMP2, having run the Jackie Chan DC Racing programme for several seasons, as well as the G-Drive Racing programme in 2016.
It’s going to be some very busy weeks for Tilley and Merriman. The ROAR Before the 24 test is on 22-24 January, followed by the 24 hours race at Daytona the following week. The two gentlemen will jump straight into a plane, and go to Abu Dhabi, where the first race in the Asian Le Mans Series will run on 4-6 February, and a further two Asian LMS races being run on 18-20 February. They get a few weeks off before it’s time for the Sebring 12 Hours in the middle of March.
